Spike Lee Fact File


Shelton Jackson Spike Lee is a film director who is most commonly known for his controversial films which explore race and class. He was born on the 20th march 1957 in Atlanta, Georgia. He owns the production company '40 acres and a mule', which has produced 35 films. Not only is he a director but he usually acts in some of his earlier films. He also usually acts in large roles in is films and doesn't just make cameos. He is also currently teaching at NYU.

His most famous movies include: Do the right thing, Malcom X, Chi-Raq, She's gotta have it and Jungle Fever. Most of his films deal with racial and political issues. These are usually the point of much controversy and political debate. His films also have heavily black cast. This is because spike lee is a black activist.

  1. Good outline, however you could have spoken more about his triumphs and alleged failures i.e. Academy awards / Directing Ali? The depth of your writing comes from the depth of your research, You have to dig deep to find coal and further still to find a diamond.
